The Gateways Program
The gateways to science careers program comprised of a collection of of Science, Technology, Engineering,a and Mathematics Scholars. Each of our participating scholars brings a unique research perspective to STEM research. Some explore science learning through examining literacy practices, while others examine everyday mathematics practices. Ultimately, the collection of research provides the G2SC program with a unique combination of scholarship and leadership.

Dr. Bryan A. Brown
Stanford University
Dr. Brown is a former high school science teacher and an emerging leader in the urban science education research. He explores how learning the language of science can impact students' learning. For more information about Dr. Brown's research click here.
Dr. Na'ilah Nasir
University of California, Berkeley
Dr. Nasir is an established scholar in research in urban mathematics education. Her work explores the cultural and identity connections between urban youth and their inherent ability to do math. Dr. Jamal Cooks
Mills College
Dr. Jamal Cooks is a well respected educational scholar and teacher trainer. Dr. Cooks has a strong history of research and training in literacy skills that explores the intersectionality between African-American Vernacular Language and science literacy.
